The University of Vermont Club Team opened up the 2012 fall schedule with a 8-2 win over the University of New England on Saturday at Centennial Field. Steve Blout, Duxbury, MA was the winning pitcher going 5 innings, with 4 strikeouts, 3 hits and giving up 2 earned runs. Ricky Gallucci, Newtown, CT pitched 2 scoreless innings. Multiple hit games were recorded by Chris Bernard, Corning, NY, Dave Seeber, Stratford, CT and Kyle Trebour, Chatham, NJ. Trebour also had a home run.
In the second game the Cats were victorious with a 11-3 win. Players with 2 or more hits included Bernard, Blout, Gallucci and Dave DiMarco, Madison, CT. Tyler Jones, Montgomery, CT picked up the win going 5 and 1/3 innings with 1 hit and 3 strikeouts. Seanan Keleher, Pomfret, VT pitched the 7th with 1 strikeout.


The team travels to Lynn, MA Saturday for a Showcase doubleheader versus University of Maine.

This past Saturday the Club Cats traveled to Lynn, MA for 2 Showcase Games with the University of Maine. In the first game the Cats were victorious 9-4. Steve Blout was the winning pitcher going 5 innings and striking out 9. Seanan Keleher pitched an effective 6th and Cole Depuy finished up the 7th with a 1-2-3 inning. Hitting seems to be one of our strong suits thus far and the bats came out with big hits from Sean O"Neil (HR), Kyle Trebour, Dave Seeber and Dave Dimarco.

The second game was highlighted by a solid performance on the mound from Tyler Jones in pitching a complete game in a 11-2 victory. Outstanding defensive plays were turned in by Cole Depuy and Sean Moran. Offensively 2 suicide squeezes were performed successfully. This Sunday the team travels to Dartmouth to take on the Big Green Club Team in a matchup of 4-0 teams. Stay tuned.

In a battle of 2 undefeated, 4-0 teams, the UVM Club team prevailed in both games of the doubleheader by scores of 11-8 and 19-5. Offense was the name of these games which was played on a short fence-field at Dartmouth College.

In the first game after falling behind 3-6 the Cats got their offense going and won going away 11-8. Steve Blout was the winning pitcher followed up in relief by Cole Depuy. Home runs came in bunches led by Kyle Trebour with 3 consecutive roundtrippers. An outstanding defensive job was turned in by catcher Brendan Hackett

Game 2 saw more off the same with home runs by Chris Bernard, Chris Kenseth and a 3 hit games from Cole Depuy and Sean O'Neill. Tyler Jones pitched 6 strong innings in difficult weather conditions. Seanan Kelelher pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning. Excellent defensive plays were turned in by Sean Moran and Sean O'Neill.

The Cats take on Bridgton Academy at home in a key doubleheader starting at noon.

Following a special UVM Baseball Alumni celebration on Centennial the Club took on a talented Bridgton Academy 9. Both games were 2-3 in the 7th inning. Bridgton went on to win the first game
5-2. Key hitters for the Cats were Steve Blout with 2 hits and single hits by Cole Depuy, Dave Seeber, Sean O'Neill, Kyle Trebour and Chris Kenseth.

The second game saw a well pitched effort by Tyler Jones with a complete game 2 earned run effort, with Bridgton winning 3-2. Cole Depuy was the only Cat with 2 hits. Steve Blout made 2 outstanding defensive plays at first base in the 6th inning.

The Cats travel to Springfield, MA this Saturday to take on American International College in noon doubleheader.

On Saturday the Club Team took a doubleheader from the American International College Yellow Jackets. In the first game the young Cats took a first inning 11-0 lead and coasted to a 18-4 win. Steve Blout pitched the first 4 innings and Alex MacDonald closed out the 5th in a "mercy win". Multiple hits were recorded by Steve Blout (4), Sean O'Neill (3) and 2 each for Kyle Trebour, Chris Kenseth, Brendan Hackett and Dan Martin.

In the second game the Cats prevailed 8-5. Tyler Jones pitched a complete game, giving up 1 earned run and striking out 5. Chris Bernard had 2 hits, including a double

The Club Team finished up another successful season this past weekend in the NECBA tournament in Peabody, MA. Seeded 4th out of the 18 teams, the team beat Fairfield 3-2 in a stirring quarterfinal game coming for behind 0-2. Playing the  number 1 seed, Boston University, in the semi-finals the Cats fell behind 0-4. Rallying in the 6th with 4 runs to tie the game. BU scored their winning run in the bottom of the 6th. The Club Team rallied once more in the 7th leaving the tying run at second base.
